Nathanaël Gouin is among the most promising young pianists of his generation. He is a sought-after soloist and chamber musician. He has performed throughout Europe, Asia and the United-States of America through numerous concerts. He was invited to give concerts during festivals such as La Folle Journée de Nantes or Le Festival International de Piano à La Roque d’Anthéron (both in France), and at such venues as the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels or la Cité de la Musique in Paris.
Born in France, Nathanaël has been passionate about the eclecticism of music since he was 4 years old. Trained at the Conservatoire National supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris, at the Juilliard School in New York as well as at the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg (Germany), Nathanaël was Artist in Residence at the Queen Elizabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo (Belgium) where he is being guided by Maria João Pires. Ms. Pires presented him to the public in the context of the Partitura project, in Japan, Spain, Germany and other countries through a concept that assembles various generations of musicians to share the stage.
Chamber music plays a significant role in his artistic life, and he is a regular partner of prominent performers such as Renaud Capucon, Augustin Dumay, Astrig Siranossian, and Raphael Sévère. Additionally, Nathanël has formed a piano-violin duo with Guillaume Chilemme, and together they have released acclaimed CDs featuring works by Ravel and Schubert. His latest solo album, titled "Caprices," recorded for the French label Mirare, has received praise from specialized critics.
Nathanaël is the recipient of several prizes from various international competitions, such as the Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach (Austria), the Swedish International Duo Competition, and the Concours International de Musique de Chambre de Lyon (France). As well, Nathanaël is a recipient of the Fondation d’entreprise Banque Populaire and of the Fondation Meyer, and currently, he is an artist-in-residence at the Singer-Polignac Foundation.
