Alfonso Pinto-Ribeiro

Alfonso Pinto-Ribeiro was born in Porto in 2005. At the age of 4, he had his first piano lessons with his mother, pianist Rosa Maria Barrantes, and began violin studies at the age of 7 with Jorman Torres.
Alfonso studied at the Academia de Música de Santa Cecília with Denis Stetsenko and Lígia Soares, continuing his violin studies at the Conservatório Nacional de Lisboa with Joana Cipriano.
He participated in several violin masterclasses with Professors Mihaela Martin (Cologne University of Music), Stephan Picard (Berlin University of Music), Pavel Vernikov (University of Vienna), Svetlana Makarova (Lausanne University of Music), and Jack Liebeck (Royal Academy of Music, London). He also studied with Mateja Marinkovic in Belgrade. In chamber music, he worked under the guidance of Professors Miguel da Silva (Capela Real Rainha Elisabete) and Lars Anders Tomter (Royal Academy of Oslo).
He has been awarded prizes in various violin competitions, including First Prize at the "Vechi Costa" Competition in 2021.
He has performed concerts in Portugal and abroad, notably participating in the Verão Clássico Festival in Lisbon and the Festival de Musique de Prémery in France.
Alfonso plays a violin built by Christian Bayon in 2020.
