André Henriques graduated in Singing from the National Conservatory Music School, under the guidance of António Wagner Diniz, and was a scholar of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation to study Opera Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, where he studied with Donald Maxwell. Currently, he regularly improves his skills with Lúcia Lemos.
As part of the "enoa" project, with Claudio Desderi and Yin Chen Lin, he portrayed Filiberto in Rossini's "Il signor Bruschino" and the protagonist in Puccini's "Gianni Schicchi" at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. He also performed as the High Priest in "Nabucco," Fiorello in "The Barber of Seville," and Peter in "Hänsel und Gretel." In concert, he sang Brahms' "Liebeslieder Waltzes" at the Sintra Music Festival with João Paulo Santos and Olga Prats, Carissimi's "Jephte," Charpentier's "Te Deum," Handel's "Messiah," J.S. Bach's "St. John Passion", J. D. Bomtempo's Mass, and Beethoven's 9th Symphony. He performed Szymanowski's Stabat Mater under the direction of David Jones at St. David's Hall in Cardiff, Rossini's Stabat Mater with Jeffrey Stewart, as well as "Acis and Galatea" and "Romeo and Juliet" with the Gulbenkian Choir and Orchestra conducted by Leonardo García Alarcón and Lorenzo Viotti, respectively.
Among the various projects he has participated in, highlights include the world premiere of "A Canção do Bandido" (by Nuno Côrte-Real/Pedro Mexia and directed by Ricardo Neves-Neves), where he sang the role of Macaco, in a co-production between the National Theater of São Carlos and the Teatro da Trindade/Força de Produção, the title role in W. A. Mozart's "Don Giovanni" with the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra (conducted by Pedro Amaral), the bass-baritone parts in Haydn's "Die Schöpfung" at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (conducted by Leonardo Garcia Alarcón), participation in a recital as part of the "Um Cancioneiro Português" series with João Paulo Santos, and the presentation of Schubert's "Winterreise" cycle with Nuno Vieira de Almeida. Recently, he sang roles such as the Bass in Miguel Azguime's "A Laugh to Cry" at O'culto da Ajuda (conducted by Pedro Neves), Bellini Belcanto in "O Anel do Unicórnio," a production by Teatro do Eléctrico, Don Parmenione in Rossini's "L’occasione fa Il ladro" at the Sintra Music Festival, and Don Alvaro in "Viaggio a Reims" at the CCB.
