Born in 2004, Matteo Fabi began studying the cello at the age of nine with his father. He continued his training at the “G. F. Ghedini” Conservatory in Cuneo, where he graduated with the highest distinction under the guidance of Andrea Cavuoto.
He has studied with Antônio Meneses at the Accademia Stauffer in Cremona and the Accademia Chigiana in Siena. He is currently attending the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, studying with Giovanni Sollima, with whom he had previously studied between 2017 and 2020 at the Accademia “R. Romanini” in Brescia.
Winner of several national and international competitions (Crescendo Prize in Florence, Scimone Prize, International Competition Rome Grand Prize Virtuoso, 1st Prize Verão Clássico, among others), he has performed recitals at major festivals and concert seasons such as Festival Back to Bach, Amici di Paganini, Chigiana Summer Festival, Classiche Armonie, Amici della Musica di Mestre, and Toret Artist TreSeiZero, and has also appeared several times as a soloist with orchestras.
In chamber music, he collaborates regularly with Salvatore Accardo.
He has attended masterclasses with renowned musicians including Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Giovanni Gnocchi, Mario Brunello, Sol Gabetta, Marc Coppey, Miklós Perényi, Ludwig Quandt, Enrico Dindo, Enrico Bronzi, Massimo Polidori, Bruno Canino, Enrico Pace, Claus-Christian Schuster, and Gary Hoffman.
