Born in 1979, Pedro Lamares studied theater at the Contemporary Academy of Performance.
In theater, he worked on productions by over a dozen playwrights. In cinema, he appeared in films by directors such as João Botelho, Jorge Paixão da Costa, Vítor Gonçalves, Joaquim Leitão, António Pedro Vasconcelos, Vicente Alves do Ó, and Tiago Durão. On television, Pedro hosted programs like "Literatura aqui," "Literatura agora" and "Nada será como Dante" (RTP2), where, alongside Filipa Leal, they were also part of the creative team, responsible for selecting and recording texts.
He was part of the main cast of eight soap operas in Portugal and one in Brazil. He starred in two TV movies for TVI and was part of the main cast of various series, including “Pecado”, “3 Mulheres”, “O Atentado”, “A Espia”, “Filhos do Rock” and “República” - all for RTP.
In poetry, he is involved in selecting texts, directing shows, and reading at recitals and literary events. He has participated in over a dozen literary festivals, both nationally and internationally.
Pedro Lamares direct shows in theater, music, and poetry, creating several solo projects and collaborations with musicians. He has created, directed, and performed in shows with actors such as Eunice Muñoz, Lúcia Moniz, Natália Luíza, or Rui Spranger, and musicians like Noiserv, Rui David, Ana Isabel Dias, Pancho Tarabbia, Filipe Pinto-Ribeiro, or the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra. For ten years, he coordinated the "reading marathons" at the Centro Cultural de Belém, a project he returned to in 2024.
He has participated in about 70 shows in the "Quintas de Leitura" cycle at the Teatro Municipal do Porto and has been involved as a creator and trainer since 2017 in all editions of the “Maratona de Leitura da Sertã”. He has worked regularly with institutions such as Casa Fernando Pessoa, the José Saramago Foundation, or the Camões Institute.
He teaches at theater schools and provides training in communication and text reading for teachers and actors. He develops lecture and recital projects for high school students and coordinates theater training in the ELO project.
He recorded texts with João Grosso for the accompanying CD of the educational manual by Raíz Editores.
Pedro has been a guest lecturer at professional theater schools such as the Contemporary Academy of Performance and Balleteatro. He is a creator at the National Theater Company.
He has taken their presentations and creations to Macau, Cape Verde, Brazil, Belgium, Switzerland, and Italy. Pedro has filmed in countries such as Lebanon, Mozambique, Brazil, Chile, and Germany.
He has been nominated for national awards for best actor and supporting actor in television and cinema.
