Considered one of the finest vocal groups in the world today, SLIXS are turning the conventions of the “a cappella” genre upside down. With their powerful and bold blend of pop and jazz, classical music and world music, the six virtuoso singers who make up the ensemble have thrilled audiences in concerts across Europe and Asia.
Exploring the full potential of the human voice, SLIXS transport listeners to a paradise of timbres, onomatopoeia, and vocal percussion. Their inventiveness is striking, and their subtle sense of groove is captivating.
These six vocal acrobats draw from their throats and mouths a sound that captivates even the icons of the global “a cappella” scene. Ward Swingle, founder of the legendary Swingle Singers, exclaimed enthusiastically: “your style is unique.” Gabriel Crouch, of the King’s Singers, stated that SLIXS are “better than any group I’ve ever heard!” And before taking them on a joint European tour, Bobby McFerrin praised them: “I’ve never heard these pieces with so much funk.”
SLIXS’s artistic boldness and innovative spirit have been recognized three times with the CARA (Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award) – the highest global distinction in vocal art: Best Jazz Song of the Year in 2008, Best Folk/World Music Song in 2013, and Best Classical Song of the Year in 2019.
As early as 2006, they had already been double winners of the Audience Award at the international “a cappella” competition “Vokal Total,” in Graz, Austria.
