Laureate of First Prize at the renowned Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2017, in the first edition dedicated to the cello, Victor Julien-Laferri\u00e8re also won First Prize, along with two special prizes, at the Prague Spring International Music Competition in 2012. In 2018, he was awarded the \u201cVictoire de la Musique,\u201d the most important classical music award in France, as \u201cInstrumental Soloist of the Year.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Victor Julien-Laferri\u00e8re regularly appears as a soloist with leading orchestras worldwide, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris, the Orchestre National de France, the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the RT\u00c9 National Symphony Orchestra, and the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie, among others, working with distinguished conductors such as Emmanuel Krivine, Valery Gergiev, Kristiina Poska, Tugan Sokhiev, Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier Roth, Jun M\u00e4rkl, and Philippe Herreweghe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His recital and chamber music projects take him to prestigious venues and festivals such as Philharmonie de Paris, KKL Luzern, BOZAR Centre for Fine Arts, Tonhalle Z\u00fcrich, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad, the Festival d\u2019Aix-en-Provence, and the La Folle Journ\u00e9e in Nantes and Tokyo, among others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Victor Julien-Laferri\u00e8re also enjoys a notable career as a conductor, having led the Orchestre National d\u2019\u00cele-de-France, the Orchestre de l\u2019Op\u00e9ra de Rouen Normandie, and the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, and he founded his own ensemble, the Orchestre Consuelo, which frequently collaborates with many of the leading French festivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He has an extensive discography, awarded with several prizes such as the \u201cDiapason d\u2019Or\u201d in 2021, including works by Franz Schubert, Dmitri Shostakovich, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Edison Denisov, Anton\u00edn Dvo\u0159\u00e1k, Bohuslav Martin\u016f, Henri Dutilleux, and Pascal Dusapin, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Victor studied with Ren\u00e9 Benedetti, and subsequently with Roland Pidoux at the Conservatoire de Paris, with Heinrich Schiff at the University of Vienna, and with Clemens Hagen at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. At the same time, from 2005 to 2011, he was a member of the Seiji Ozawa International Music Academy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
