A native of Munich, but raised in Berlin, Viviane Hagner is one of the leading violinists of our time, equally acclaimed in the canonical repertoire (from Bach to Berg) and in modern and contemporary music. In the latter, she has given notable performances and recordings of works by composers such as Sofia Gubaidulina, Witold Lutos\u0142awski, Krzysztof Penderecki, Unsuk Chin \u2014 whose Violin Concerto, awarded the 2002 Grawemeyer Prize, is dedicated to her \u2014 as well as Simon Holt and Christian Jost. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Viviane Hagner was only 13 years old when, in 1990, she gained international recognition as soloist in a concert in Tel Aviv that brought together the Berlin Philharmonic and the Israel Philharmonic under the direction of Zubin Mehta. In 2004, the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award for artistic development enabled her to receive the support and guidance of Mitsuko Uchida over a period of four years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She regularly appears as a soloist with major orchestras around the world, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, and the New York Philharmonic, working with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Daniel Barenboim, Riccardo Chailly, Charles Dutoit, Christoph Eschenbach, Lorin Maazel, Kent Nagano, and Pinchas Zukerman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Viviane Hagner is the founder and artistic director of Krzy\u017cowa Music (Silesia, Poland), a festival that promotes the meeting of cultures and the exchange of ideas in an environment that brings together renowned musicians and students or young professionals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
