Pedro Teixeira is one of the most distinguished choral conductors in Portugal. Since 2021, he has served as Associate Conductor of the Casa da M\u00fasica Choir (Porto), and he was Chief Conductor of the Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid between 2012 and 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Born in Lisbon, he obtained a Master\u2019s degree in Choral Conducting from the Lisbon School of Music and is widely known in the choral world for his insightful and sensitive interpretations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since its creation in 2001, Pedro has directed the Officium Ensemble, a group dedicated to the performance of Portuguese Renaissance polyphony. He has led the Officium Ensemble on numerous occasions at prestigious international early music festivals, such as Oude Muziek Utrecht and Laus Polyphoniae in Antwerp. Pedro Teixeira is also active in contemporary music, conducting several world premieres each season as principal conductor of the Ricercare Choir since 2001.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since 1997, he has been Artistic Director of the Escola de M\u00fasica da S\u00e9 de \u00c9vora Summer Courses. In addition to teaching at the Lisbon School of Music, Pedro regularly leads masterclasses and summer courses, and is frequently invited to serve on the jury of international choral competitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since 2018, Pedro has conducted the Gulbenkian Choir as guest conductor on several occasions and stages.
